We went for a walk the other day and I found this really good looking wall. I love the texture of it. I was just going to take a picture of the wall, but of course my husband had to get into the shot. It turned out pretty good. He’s making his tough face again. The men in my family love to have their pictures taken while trying to look tough.

You wouldn’t know it by looking at this blog, but I recently got a new digital camera. It’s new to me at least and that’s new enough. I meant to write about it the other day and put up some pictures, but I got sidetracked by monkeys. Anyway, the camera is great and I’ve been taking plenty of pictures. I’ve decided to join the Project 365 group on Flickr. I take a photo everyday and upload it on the site. Check out my Flickr photostream.

Not so long ago we went for a walk in the park and saw the most amazing fly. I don’t know what kind of fly it was, maybe a horsefly. Are they really big ones that buzz loudly? If they are then it was definitely a horsefly.
Anyway this fly was hovering right in the middle of the path about the height of my head. I almost walked into it. That’s how we discovered it. It was just sitting there in midair. This was a very talented fly.
My husband wanted to get a picture of it, but every time he got the camera to focus on it the fly would quickly zoom around behind my husband’s head and then resume hovering there. It was a very talented fly indeed. It did this many times and my husband couldn’t get a good picture of it. He finally gave up.
We didn’t get a good picture of the fly so here’s another picture instead.

I’ve sold a few things on Craig’s List but up until yesterday had never bought anything from the site. I like saving money as much as the next person, but I’m always afraid of getting ripped off, and Craig’s List seem like as good a place as any to get ripped off.
We needed a digital video camera, so I started looking on Craig’s List for one. When I finally found one that would work for us, I emailed the seller. When he emailed me back, I saw that his email name was Lance Thruster.
“You can call him,” I said as I gave my husband the phone number. “I’m not calling anyone who’s email name is Lance Thruster.”
Lance Thruster lived in a trailer park in Largo. We drove there that night to buy the camera. He showed us the camera. My husband was ready to give him the money without even seeing if it worked. I made him turn it on and show us how to work it.
As we drove home, I held the camera–that wreaked of cigarette smoke–in my lap. It works great. We didn’t get ripped off.

This is my zest for life look–like someone who writes personal essays that brighten the spirit, is the funniest one at the party, has a firm grasp on the spirit of adventure, and never walks into walls.

This is my pensive look–like someone who writes fiction that profoundly affects humanity, has read all of the classics, knows her grammar, and always has exact change.
