Yes I Can
When I woke up this morning I felt as cynical as ever. I stumbled sleepy-eyed into my stepson’s room to put his lunch in his book bag. “Obama won the election,” he said.
After bathing and putting on his school uniform, he’d gotten back into bed to take a quick nap before going to school. “Are you sure?” I asked. I thought he might’ve been dreaming.
It turns out that he wasn’t dreaming and now I feel like anything is possible.
When I mailed in my absentee ballot last month, my husband said, “Why are you bothering? They’re just going to throw it anyway?” This is proof positive that they counted my vote. Without my vote, he might’ve never gotten elected.

I know voter fraud is as old as elections but I also trust in the elected officials where I live to receive and fairly count my ballot. It has never occurred to me to question it.
I like to dispute the ideas we only have one vote. In the November 4 election I cast at least 15 votes–one for President, one for governor, one for congress, three for ballot initiatives, two for state house, two for county commissioners–you et the idea.
And that was just the November 4 election! I also voted in a primary, and in a special election or two in the spring for local taxing needs of the cities and school district.
I am glad you voted and hope you will continue to vote. You have no less a right to vote than anyone else (I assume) and you have no more votes than any other citizen. Use your vote–people die for this right
